Contemporary Research on different ways of Elizabethan Hair and Make Up

 Research of contemporary Elizabethan styles.

For example Vivienne Westwood:-

,

When i look at Westwood's work here, the make up and hair reminds me slightly of the Elizabethan era. The makeup is pale, with white powder, with smudges of red and black, so looking messy and also very contemporary.

Alexander McQueen collection at Paris Fashion Week, fall 2013.

Sarah Burton designed these headpieces, for Alexander Mcqueen's fall 2013 collection. They very much are inspired by Queen Elizabeth 1. The makeup in the show was nude and plain, but the head piece really accentuated the whole outfit.

As you look closely, the hair has small pin curls against the head kept up by pins, which does remind me of elizabethan era, but is very couture and contemporary in the way the whole collection has a lot of difference of being, simple, yet over the top at the same time.

The way the hair is done and with the headpiece on top, is what i like the most about it, of how it really reminds me of the Elizabethan era, even though they didn't wear that, so it is comtemporary, but they did have wires and pads to hold their hair up, for example to make it heart shaped, which is what this makes me think of.
